The idea of Pastoral Councils came after Vatican II to give the laity more involvement and allow them to participate in parish decision making. Canon 536 (which recommends parish pastoral councils) defines the purpose of councils in an extremely brief way. It says that they "give their help in fostering parish activity." The Pastoral Council of Holy Family work on various areas of the life of the parish including: Youth, Faith and Social.
The SDVP is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need. Holy Family have a very active conference and if you feel you that you need their help, they are standing at the doors at the end of all Sunday Masses.
The Catholic Women's League was founded in 1906 and the Union of Catholic Mothers developed as an independent group in 1913 to band together all Catholic women, who aim to follow the Christian ideal of marriage and home life. At Holy Family the women believe that Union is strength and through united prayer U.C.M members never stand alone. She is strengthened through her unity with other members and has their prayers to help her to carry her responsibilities.
